Your tasks

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD researcher in the domain of applied particle physics and detection technology to work on the project devoted to remote measurements of the particle radiation environment in the atmosphere. The project goal is to develop a portable sensor for neutral and charged energetic particles based on novel particle physics detection technologies. You will be responsible for detector construction and calibration. You will design and implement modeling and testing algorithms as well as system for conducting measurements in laboratory and in the field. You will also have the chance to participate in the real verification campaigns at different radiation environments. And you will present your scientific results at international conferences and in scientific journals.

Your profile

You have a Master’s degree in experimental physics or a related field with good handson experience in laboratory nuclear and particle physics instrumentation. You are skilled in writing software code. You have a creative personality, problem-solving skills and like working in an international team of technicians and scientists. A good command of English and the willingness to learn the local language German are required.
