ABOUT THE ROLE

Do you have an advanced level of knowledge of administration of PostgreSQL databases? Are you an experienced Database Administrator with expertise in banking area?

Then you have a fantastic opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, designers and strategists at EPAM as a hybrid PostgreSQL Database Administrator in Zurich.

We are looking for a hands-on Database Administrator who has experience in PostgreSQL implementation to focus on building the PostgreSQL Databases and administer them. This may also include migration of databases and post migration support from other Relational Database Management Systems like Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Day to day administration of PostgreSQL databases
• Troubleshoot end user queries related to connectivity, performance and space
• Create Clone Database for Development/Testing Environments
• Upgrade PostgreSQL databases and do migrations from other Relational Database Management Systems
• Install and work on tools & clients like pgAdmin
• Monitor and optimize the performance of the database
• Automate and perform regular database maintenance (e.g., Vacuum, Reindexing, Archiving, Connection pooling)
• Ensure compliance with operational/change management guidelines

Requirements

• Experience in PostgreSQL 14 Installation
• Good knowledge of Azure
• A good working knowledge of Redhat Linux
• Experienced in Backup & Recovery using native Backup utilities and logical/physical backups, tools like Patroni for recovery
• Knowledge of SSL/Non-SSL based connections
• Experience with LDAP/Kerberos based user authentications
• Experience with utilities like pgadmin, pg_badger
• Proficient communication skills in English are a must, while knowledge of the German language is a significant advantage

Nice to have

• Automation experience using Shell scripts, iPSoft or Python
