Senior clinician in Small Animal Cardiology
The successful applicant will be responsible for the running of the small animal cardiology service and have off clinics time to fulfill research, teaching and professional development activities. This includes teaching of residents, interns, and veterinary students on their clinical rotations, administrative work, and communication with teaching veterinarians. The formal teaching activities consist of classroom and small group teaching.
At the Vetsuisse Faculty currently two academic tracks are available: the educator track (80% on clinics) and the habilitation track (50% on clinics). Both are designed to lead to a tenured position (Dozentur).
Applicants should be Diplomates of the European (ECVIM-CA) or the American (ACVIM) College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialty of cardiology.
Candidates should have at least basic knowledge of the German and French languages, and be willing to improve these language skills as needed to efficiently communicate with referring veterinarians and the owners of our patients.
The prospective cardiologist will be part of the internal medicine team which consists of five ACVIM and/or ECVIM-CA diplomates in internal medicine, 3 internal medicine residents, 9 rotating interns and a dedicated nursing team. Friendly interactions and flat hierarchies create a positive working environment.

The Small Animal Clinic Bern has specialist services in internal medicine, surgery, neurology, dermatology, radiology, emergency medicine and intensive care medicine as well as clinical pathology. High-quality equipment and services including ultrasound, endoscopy, MRI, CT and an in-house clinical pathology laboratory are available. There is also an intensive care unit, which is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Small Animal Clinic Bern is located in the centre of Bern. Bern is in close proximity to the mountains as well as several beautiful lakes, and the region offers easy access to numerous outdoor activities, including hiking, climbing, skiing and cycling.
