AI Alliance Program Lead for Europe

IBM Research Europe – Zurich is one of IBM’s 12 global research labs. Our mission comprises cutting-edge research for tomorrow’s information technology and inventing what’s next in computing.

Our activities include applied research in the areas of Hybrid Cloud, AI, Security, and Quantum computing as well as fundamental science research.

We cultivate close relationships with academic and industrial partners and are part of the local and global scientific community to help drive Europe’s innovation agenda.

The AI Alliance is a global community of technology creators, developers and adopters collaborating to advance safe, responsible AI rooted in open innovation. People in IBM’s AI Alliance team collaborate across IBM and with representatives from 85 (and growing) member organizations to advance these goals. We are seeking an outstanding and passionate

AI Alliance Program Lead for Europe

to join our team. You will bring your background in AI technology, ecosystem building, advocacy, leadership and communication skills, and enthusiasm to the highly motivated AI Alliance team, focusing on our European members, projects, ecosystem and advocacy. The goals are to build, grow and enable a community around open innovation and open science, enable the safe and trusted application of AI, spread knowledge about all aspects of AI and how to use it safely and responsibly to the technical community, business and societal leaders, policymakers, and the public. You will collaborate with all working groups in the AI Alliance across our different focus areas. You will work closely with AI Alliance leadership and IBM Europe leadership to represent the AI Alliance in Europe.

Applicants should have strong, prior experience with AI technology, policy, applications and ethics and the ability to lead and to collaborate effectively with a diverse group people and organizations in a rapidly evolving AI ecosystem.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead’s IBM’s involvement in the AI Alliance in Europe.
  • Assist with engaging, onboarding, enabling members to contribute across the AI Alliance project portfolio.
  • Contribute directly to the goals of working groups, in particular in areas of advocacy, education, and safe trusted application development.
  • Inform and advocate for the unique perspectives, opportunities, challenges and requirements of the European ecosystem in the global AI Alliance.
  • Propose, plan, execute and manage European-specific projects, programs, events and initiatives (or the European components of global projects, etc.).
  • Discover and catalyze engagement by key individuals in the community who can contribute to the AI Alliance mission.

The requirements for this role area are as follows:

  • BS/BA degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in at least one of the six focus areas of the AI Alliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast paced, changing, and agile development environment to meet deadlines.
  • Effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

The following qualifications are desired:

  • PhD in an AI-related discipline.
  • Experience in AI technology, policy, ethics, or governance.
  • Publications in relevant AI, scientific or related fields.
  • Proficiency in at least 1 other European language beyond English.
