Industry Communities Specialist, Energy and Materials

This role requires the ability to work on site 3 days per week per company policy.

The World Economic Forum is an international organization that brings together leaders from business, government, academia, and civil society to build industry, regional and global agendas, address systemic issues, and improve the state of the world.

The Global Industries Team is responsible for building and managing the Forum 20+ global Industry Communities and for the strategic engagement of Forum Partners from North America and Europe across Industry Communities, the 10 Forum Centres and our Forum events. 

We are searching an Industry Communities Specialist, who will ensure alignment, consistency, and efficient operations across the Energy and Materials Clusters’ industry communities, in alignment with the vision, strategy and goals of the Global Industries Team. The Industry Communities Specialist will report into the Head of the Energy Cluster.

Responsibilities of the Industry Communities Specialist include:

  • Coordinating and supporting the activities of the Energy and Materials Industry Communities, and ensuring efficient operations
  • Communicating with external and internal stakeholders to support the delivery of qualitative industry communities and related activities in a timely manner
  • Developing and owning the deployment of tools to ensure alignment and consistency of Energy and Materials industry communities’ approach to our industry community members and their strategic engagement in our activities 
  • Serving as the team’s point of contact for the management of Forum-wide internal processes and activities relevant to the Energy and Materials industry communities
  • Working with other teams across the organization to ensure digital tools are being efficiently deployed and used by the Energy and Materials Clusters, and that external stakeholders have a seamless experience engaging with the Forum
  • Supporting the development and successfully maintaining internal databases, knowledge tools and team records; providing research and organization support to team as needed
  • Providing support for the maintenance of the Energy and Materials industry communities’ records in our systems and databases (e.g., Governors and Strategy Officers Communities)
  • Supporting the planning and execution of team meetings and internal projects; providing general administrative support as needed

To be successful, the Energy and Materials Industry Communities should:

  • Contribute to the operational efficiency of the team by supporting and coordinating industry communities’ activities and making best use of current and future process and digital tools
  • Ensure seamless execution of industry communities’ activities and workshops and support the participation of the industry communities in Forum events
  • Respond to requests in a timely manner, provide administrative support as needed and ensure industry communities’ records are kept up to date
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and streamlining of the team’s process and approach

Requirements and preferred experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related area preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with a focus on strategy coordination, project management and process improvement
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and manage expectations of senior executives and their staff with confidence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel) and Salesforce
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding environment and handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, project and time management skills, and possess high attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a strong work ethic
  • Responsible, independent, and self-driven; Self-starting, independent thinker who thrives as a flexible team player
