What's the weather like tomorrow? 🌦️

How much energy will my solar power plant generate this week? Is this flight path safe and efficient? Will there be enough rain to water my crops? As the weather affects many industries' performance, businesses keep a close eye on what's happening in the skies.

At Meteomatics, we're a team of proud nerds who deliver the most accurate weather data to over 600 companies and research institutions worldwide, helping them accelerate the energy transition, reduce the business’ impact on the environment, and make products and services safer for society.

We are looking for a Mechtronics Engineer with the following profile to join our team in St. Gallen.

Your responsibilities

  • Follow and enhance the mechanical design and development process for new and existing products, ensuring they meet performance, quality, and cost targets
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing experts to integrate mechanical components seamlessly into the overall product design.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings that accurately represent design intent.
  • Oversee prototype fabrication and testing activities, iterating designs as necessary to address performance issues and meet project milestones.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to design processes, tools, and documentation standards to enhance efficiency and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Effectively coach other team members in the application of SolidWorks and empower them to design and develop optimal parts in respect of the given boundaries.

Your qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks as a main CAD software is essential, with a demonstrated ability to create complex models and assemblies.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in design, development and testing of mechanical parts (conventionally manufactured and 3D printed) and highly integrative assemblies
  • Know-how in the field of industrial manufacturing methods and serial assembly lines would be a fantastic asset
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools for structural analysis.
  • Proven track record of successfully bringing innovative products from concept to mass production, with a keen eye for detail and quality
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and present technical information clearly and persuasively
