The position of Head of FP&A / Controlling will play a key role supporting the expanding activities of the Finance Department of MSC Cruise Management (UK) Limited. The role will report to the Chief Financial Officer, but will also have an indirect reporting line to the MSC Cruises Group Head of Financial Planning and Control in Geneva on operating matters. The role will carry a broad remit across controlling, budgeting / forecasting and business analysis activities, with a principal focus on ship operating expenses, specifically repair and maintenance, but also other cost areas including crew costs, hotel costs, insurance costs, overheads and finance costs.

The role will also support interaction between teams in the UK and Switzerland following port and fuel costs. The role is also responsible for controlling and reporting in connection with the extensive MSC Cruises newbuilding programme. Working closely with the Vice President Newbuilding and various other stakeholders across other functions (including specifically Procurement and other functions within the wider MSC Cruises group), the position will have a focus on capital expenditure optimization across Owner Supply, RFC and lump sum areas of spend.

A key aspect of the role is to coordinate processes, controls, efficiencies and procurement strategies across both the Newbuild and Operational areas of expenditure. The role will directly manage 3 positions: 1) Newbuild Controller 2) R&M Controller and 3) UK Controller.

These roles will work very closely with the business supporting their business plans, ensuring all reporting requirements are met and cooperating closely with all other members of the Finance Department in the UK, as well as with colleagues in Switzerland, Italy, Malta and elsewhere. The post holder will also play an important role in supporting major systems upgrades, including an anticipated ERP implementation.

Operating expenses:

· Lead role in controlling activities focusing on all ship expenses and insurance, and supporting in other areas including fuel and port costs control, working closely with the MSC Cruises SA Group Controlling team in Geneva.

· Lead and coordinating role in annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting activities for MSC Cruise Management (UK) Limited.

· Providing departmental analysis for reporting purposes and working with departmental heads and with MSC Cruise Technical Department teams, to control costs.

· Preparation and evaluation of business cases for out of budget requests, investments, and conducting post investment analysis.

· Support monthly, quarterly and year end closing processes and manage other periodical reporting requirements as required.

· Assist in the preparation of analysis, reports and presentations for UK board meetings, quarterly meetings etc

· Assisting with the year end audit, liaising with external auditors and internal auditors where appropriate.

· Supporting systems changes and implementation.

· Working with MSC Cruises SA and other group personnel with a particular focus on:

· PO processes and expenditure controls

· Procurement strategy and analysis

· Inventory management and control

· Working capital management

Newbuilding / owners supply expenses:

· Develop, monitor, and report on Metrics and KPIs for Newbuild Management across newbuilding Projects, and ensuring due processes are followed.

· Provide support to new building projects in the development, approval and monitoring of Owners Supply budgets

· Maintain and report on consolidated position on Owners Supply Budgets versus Expenditure across New Building Programme, contributing also to cashflow management.

· Manage Request For Change (RFC) and Lump Sum expenditure as part of overall contractual budget

· Lead and support newbuilding team and wider organisation in the analysis of returns associated to their initiatives

· Contribute to what if analysis aimed to optimise capital expenditure allocation within the Owner Supply Budget

· Assess and challenge procurement process to continuously enhance cost efficiency

· Supports other initiatives where Owner Supply is a significant dependency e.g. Asset & Inventory Management

· Acts as principal interface between Finance, New Building and Procurement teams for Owner Supply Management activities

· Strong analytic skills

· Qualified accountant, likely CIMA/ACA

· Significant experience with financial planning, analysis and control managing multiple stakeholders and departments

· Able to operate in a complex, fast moving and dynamic environment and able to adapt to changing circumstances

· Culturally aware and able to operate effectively in an international environment

· Keen to develop, progress and take on greater responsibility

· Resilient personality, able to meet stretching deadlines with an eye for detail

· Strong networking skills and ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders globally is essential

· Knowledge of shipping and engineering beneficial
