Power Electronics Application Engineer

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Power Electronics Application Engineer to reinforce the team in Geneva.

Role Summary/Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise and customer support within the Traction Power Systems business unit to expand our activities in power conversion for decarbonization and green energy applications. The goal of the Network expertise and simulation team is to provide our customers with state of art technical support and solutions that meet the highest safety and quality standards.

Your mission:

- Technical support to customer projects and sales departments acting as a technical specialist.

- Study, dimensioning and specification of electric equipment and power converters (rectifiers, transformers, filters, etc.) related to railway traction application according to relevant standards (EN, IEC, ANSI, IEEE).

- Conduct presentations and training sessions on technical topics to clients/internal teams.

- Advance modelling using tools like MATLAB/Simulink.

- Research and validation of components and subsets, semiconductors, magnetics, fuses, …

- Network power simulation for railway (metro, tramway, train) and coordination of protection.

- Willingness to learn and meet standards, active participation to committees.

- Design tests and type tests supervision.

- Interface with sales, project management, R&D and testing teams.

- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.

- Understanding of power electronics and knowledge of power systems and converters.

- You are fluent in English, basics in French are preferable.

- Knowledge of simulation tools such as MATLAB/ Simulink etc.

- A positive attitude, initiative, proactiveness, teamwork skills and an outgoing personality.

- Demonstrated success in meeting customer milestones and exceeding quality expectations.

- Good problem-solving skills, ambition to solve complex problems from a blank sheet.

- Outstanding communication skills with team, peers and management.
