Company Description

As a world market leader in crop protection, we help farmers to counter these threats and ensure enough safe, nutritious, affordable food for all – while minimizing the use of land and other agricultural inputs. Syngenta Crop Protection keeps plants safe from planting to harvesting. From the moment a seed is planted through to harvest, crops need to be protected from weeds, insects and diseases as well as droughts and floods, heat and cold. Syngenta Crop Protection is headquartered in Switzerland.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a 2-year fixed term Postdoctoral Fellowship contract in our chemistry department in Stein AG, Switzerland where you will be given the opportunity to develop new skills while working at the cutting edge of science and innovation. At Syngenta, our work matters; we are looking for the talents of today and tomorrow.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team and contribute to the enhancement of our High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE) platform through the implementation and integration in our software platform of cutting-edge experimental design algorithms. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting a detailed analysis of existing methodologies for design of experiments, including design of experiments and Bayesian approaches, and providing a comprehensive summary of their features.
  • Developing a robust Python package that integrates all pertinent existing algorithms, ensuring seamless interaction with our internal reaction data management software platform.
  • Leveraging large-scale chemical reaction conditions datasets to create machine learning algorithms that enable intelligent selection of variables and their values as input to reaction optimization experimental design
  • Establishing the groundwork for customizable, on-demand machine learning models for reaction optimization that users can operate independently.
  • Crafting intuitive graphical user visualizations for straightforward interpretation of results by end-users.

As an integral part of our collaborative team, you will work closely with automation scientists and chemists who are the primary beneficiaries of your work, enhancing the platform through continuous iterative feedback.

You will find your place within a diverse team of Chemists and Computer Scientists, all of whom bring extensive knowledge in cheminformatics and software development.

Our organization is a fervent advocate for open-source software development and encourages the public sharing of our collaborative achievements.

Join us to advance your career and shape the future of experimental design in a stimulating and forward-thinking environment.
