About this job:

The Medical Manager at Astellas Pharma will oversee the implementation of the medical strategy in the ophthalmology therapeutic area at the Nordic affiliate level covering Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway. This involves coordinating and executing medical and scientific activities to understand the local external environment, interactions with external HCPs to gain insights and discuss data, translate insights into strategies, and fulfill the information needs of key stakeholders to ensure the safe and appropriate use of Astellas products.

In this job, you will:

  • Provide strategic medical and scientific expertise in support of all affiliate’s Medical Affairs deliverables and cross-functional activities.
  • Be part of the cross functional brand team and develop integrated partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to advance the medical/scientific understanding of Astellas products.
  • Engage with Key External Experts in relevant therapeutic areas and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure all affiliate Medical Affairs activities deliver value and are based on scientific validity, clinical importance, and are executed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with Commercial teams to provide strategic scientific/medical expertise and ensure alignment with key stakeholders.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of the therapeutic area, ophthalmology Ability of acquire scientific and clinical knowledge through publications, congresses, meetings and presentations.
  • Experience with conducting successful advisory boards to gather expert advice and feedback on medical, humanistic, health economic, or clinical topics, resulting in actionable insights.
  • History of developing and implementing effective medical strategies in previous roles, ensuring compliant execution of all Affiliate Medical/Scientific activities.
  • Previous experience providing scientific/medical support to internal stakeholders.
  • Fluent in Danish, Swedish or Norwegian

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience from Medical Affairs, e.g., as medical advisor or MSL, from clinical practice or clinical development is beneficial.
  • Understanding of industry laws and regulations.
  • Excellent presentation skills fully fluent in written and verbal business English.
  • Preferable a good understanding of the dynamics of a large corporate environment comfortable with matrix reporting lines.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine or PhD in health-related science or Candidate of Pharmacy or equivalent.

Additional information:

  • This is a permanent, full-time position.
  • Position requires some travel for customer meetings and allows for flexibility to work from home. Successful candidate must be able to travel 20-30% of the time.
  • This position follows our hybrid working model. Role requires a blend of home and a minimum of 1 day per quarter in our Ørestad office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
