About the Role

As a PR and Communication Manager at SMG Automotive, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company's public relations and communication strategies for AutoScout24 and MotoScout24. You will be responsible for enhancing the brand image, managing media relations, and fostering effective communication with various stakeholders including customers, partners, and the media.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
  • Leverage data to develop press releases, media kits, and other materials to disseminate company news and announcements.
  • Coordinate media inquiries and interview requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of PR campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance brand awareness and reputation e.g. research projects with external partners and industry events, positioning AutoScout24 as thought leader and reference point for the Swiss automotive industry.
  • Create relevant and compelling content for various channels including press releases, print publications, podcasts, social media, and newsletters
  • Ensure consistency of messaging and brand voice across all communication channels.
  • Build and sustain good collaboration with communication managers of business units and group level
  • Collaboration in group communications initiatives, including team meetings, news updates, educational sessions and shared management of media inquiries.
  • Develop crisis communication plans and protocols to address potential issues proactively and manage crisis situations with media and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate internal communication initiatives to keep employees informed and engage e.g. Automotive town halls
  • Reporting: This role reports directly to the Business Unit Automotive Manager with a dotted line to the Head of Corporate Communication

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • Proven experience in public relations, corporate communications, or related roles, preferably within the automotive industry or technology sector.
  • Automotive industry experience and affinity OR interest in digital topics and the tech sector is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German (French and Italian is a plus), very good English skills (company language)
  • Ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Writing skills to clearly and effectively communicate the benefits of the product both internally and externally.
  • Strong media relations skills, with a track record of securing media coverage and building relationships with journalists.
  • Good knowledge of the Swiss media landscape.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in crisis communication and issues management is a plus.
