Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Assistive Technologies in Curative and Special Education Contexts 80 – 100%
For the Institute for Disability and Participation, we are looking for a committed personality for the strategic teaching, research, and development field "Artificial Intelligence and Assistive Technologies in Curative and Special Education Contexts" starting September 1, 2026, or by arrangement.
The professorship combines technological innovations with curative education expertise. The goal is to unlock and scientifically further develop the potential of digital and AI-based systems for learning, communication, independence, participation, and social inclusion of people with special educational needs. Applications from the field of assistive and access technologies—such as in the context of supported communication, mobility, sensory perception, or telepresence—are addressed with regard to their pedagogical significance, their impact in educational and life contexts, as well as their ethical implications.
Your area of responsibility
- Development and further advancement of the teaching, research, and development field
- Comprehensive responsibility in the teaching, research, and development field within the fourfold mandate (education, continuing education, research & development, and services)
- Professional supervision of project teams and promotion of young scientists
- Dissemination in scientific publications, at expert committees, conferences, and in the scientific community
- Professional contribution to the implementation of the overall strategy of the HfH
- Bringing in your expertise in the further development of the institute, in internal committees and working groups
- Visible positioning of the HfH in professional debates as well as in national and international networks
Your profile
- PhD in curative and special education, educational sciences, or social sciences, teaching diploma in curative and special education
- Proven experience in the conception and management of research and service projects
- Proven expertise in scientific publishing and third-party funding acquisition
- Comprehensive expertise in artificial intelligence, digital technologies / assistive technologies in the context of education, participation, and inclusion
- Expertise in specific application areas such as human-machine interaction, chatbots, access technologies, digital learning environments, supported communication, telepresence systems, robotic assistance systems
- Very good networking on the topic of AI / assistive technologies nationally and internationally
- Proven knowledge of the Swiss education system and good networking
- Several years of practical experience in the field of curative and special education
- High didactic competence in university teaching
- Leadership, communication, and cooperation skills
