Job description
We are looking for a motivated person to work as a doctoral assistant in the field of interdisciplinary children's rights studies, in order to contribute to the consolidation and development of research and teaching programs as well as to the service offerings of the Interfaculty Center on Children's Rights (CIDE).Located in Sion, Valais, the CIDE's mission is to deepen, through teaching and research, the field of interdisciplinary children's rights studies. It aims to study issues affecting childhood as a social group and the child as a social actor and rights holder. Through its expertise in inter- and transdisciplinarity, the CIDE encourages dialogue between disciplines through the pooling of knowledge, confrontation, and negotiation of viewpoints on complex study objects.
Within the framework of its terms of reference, the assistant:
- Engages in a thesis project in the field of interdisciplinary children's rights studies, with a particular focus on sociological dimensions and social sciences.
- Contributes to teaching, student supervision, exam formulation and correction, as well as monitoring and evaluating individual and group work within the framework of the Interdisciplinary Master's in Children's Rights (MIDE) and the optional transversal course 'Interdisciplinary Studies of Childhood and Children's Rights'.
- Collaborates on the research work of the responsible professor and participates in the research activities of the CIDE.
- Participates in administrative work related to research and teaching activities.
Title and required skills
- Hold a master's degree in children's rights, or in social sciences, or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrate proven skills in scientific research, including a good knowledge of research methods in social sciences, and show clear motivation to complete a doctoral thesis in the field of interdisciplinary children's rights studies.
- Show autonomy, organization, curiosity, and openness; possess very good interpersonal skills and be able to integrate and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Have an excellent command of French; additionally, master English (level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
