The Nursing Directorate (DSO) of the CHUV is looking for a 50% auxiliary spiritual companion, for a start date on September 1, 2026, within the framework of a one-year fixed-term contract.

Context
The University Hospital of Lausanne (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, research, and education.
The Nursing Directorate (DSO) is an essential component of institutional management. It ensures the development, coordination, and quality of care within all clinical departments of the CHUV.
It brings together more than 5,200 professionals from many disciplines: nursing, care assistance, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, specialized education, spiritual support, and volunteering.
The Chaplaincy Service aligns its work with the CHUV’s triple university mission: care, teaching, and research. It relies on a team of about twenty committed spiritual companions working with patients, their relatives, and care teams.
The training organized by the service aims to develop a model of spiritual accompaniment adapted to societal and healthcare system changes, while contributing to the training of future professionals in this field.
Mission
- You provide spiritual support in a hospital setting to patients and their relatives
- You engage in an interprofessional approach in collaboration with care teams
- You develop your skills in spiritual accompaniment within a specialized hospital context.
Profile
- You hold a degree in theology or religious studies
- You have a CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) in spiritual accompaniment in healthcare settings
- You have experience in counseling
- You have completed training in a person-centered approach
- You are able to face suffering and vulnerability situations
- You demonstrate stress resilience and recognized interpersonal skills.
