Internship: AI in Toxicology Prediction and Innovation in Safer Chemicals (m/f)
To support our Technology Department in the Advanced Materials division, we are looking for an Intern in AI in Toxicology Prediction and Innovation in Safer Chemicals. The position is a 6-month internship extendable for additional 6 months, and it is based in our Advanced Materials Innovation Center in Basel (Switzerland). The objective of this internship is to support the validation of cutting-edge AI-driven toxicity prediction models and toxicology study design tools. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of computational science and human toxicology, contributing to innovative solutions that advance safety assessment of chemical substances.
Your main accountabilities as Intern AI in Toxicology Prediction and Innovation in Safer Chemicals will be:
- Run toxicity predictions of target substances using advanced AI-enabled agents
- Generate reports summarizing results
- Provide feedback on the quality of predictions and of regulatory assessments
- Generate ideas for improving tool functionality and assist R&D staff with in-silico tox assessments
- Ensure full compliance with safety, health and environmental guidelines according to site and company standards (active participation to safety meetings and periodic safety improvement plans).
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical, Chemical & Biological Sciences, or a related discipline (can be associated to a M.Sc. thesis work in agreement with your institution)
- Strong interest in human toxicology, chemical risk assessment, and predictive modeling
- Curiosity about how artificial intelligence can transform toxicology research and study design
- Interest in understanding how AI provides answers and in verifying and improving the information received
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Passion to learn and a collaborative mindset
- Fluency in English
