Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for criminal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, and the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Bachtel Correctional Center (VZB) is one of the enforcement facilities of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in open enforcement of custodial and substitute custodial sentences. The VZB offers space for over 90 incarcerated persons.
The basic concept of the organic nursery is oriented towards the enforcement operation. Depending on the season, 8 to 14 incarcerated persons are employed. The nursery includes various greenhouses, open-field vegetable cultures, site maintenance, etc. The team consists of three people.
We are looking for an experienced and socially competent individual for our nursery at the Hinwil location, starting immediately or by arrangement.
This is your field of activity
- Care, support, and promotion of inmates in everyday work according to work-pedagogical principles as well as collaboration with the assigned inmate group
- Setting up and designing inmate workplaces
- Cultivation of various greenhouses and open-field cultures
- Maintenance and care of equipment, tools, machines, and vehicles as well as care and maintenance of the site and associated infrastructure
- Supervising inmates during industrial and firewood work
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with work pedagogues of the work departments as well as participation in daily reports and team meetings
- Assignments and substitutions in other work departments of the correctional center
What you bring
- Completed basic training as a gardener EFZ (specialization in vegetable growing is an advantage) or in a related green profession as well as several years of professional experience
- Knowledge in organic vegetable/ornamental plant cultivation is an advantage
- IT user skills
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form; knowledge of other languages is a great advantage (especially Italian, French, English, or Arabic)
- Resilient and stable personality with a high degree of social competence
- Experience, understanding, and tolerance in dealing with people of different social and cultural backgrounds
- Minimum age of 25 years
- Driver's license category B
- Impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
