With nearly 1200 employees, the Department of Acute Medicine (DMA) includes anesthesiology, clinical pharmacology and toxicology, intensive care, and emergency services. It fulfills a fourfold mission through its services, which provide expertise in frequent interaction with all University Hospitals of Geneva, thanks to a transversal platform, aiming to ensure the best possible patient care.
The Emergency Service is a transversal service whose missions are to welcome patients 24/7 regardless of the nature of their health problem, to ensure rapid and effective care to direct people to the most appropriate structure. The Emergency Service also provides urgent medical assistance at the cantonal level, coordinates and manages major events, while being a reference service for the canton’s structures.
The Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Unit (UMSH), equipped with a double hyperbaric chamber, is integrated into the Emergency Service. It is a unique reference center in Switzerland for hyperbaric medicine and diving medicine.
Job Description
As an intern, you will join the UMSH to contribute to updating quality and safety procedures, whether it is managing the certification of hyperbaric chambers for clinical and research use, and/or analyzing and optimizing administrative processes.
You will collaborate with medical, technical, and administrative teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
You will participate in cross-disciplinary projects related to human physiology under extreme conditions and diving medicine.
You will work in an interdisciplinary environment, within a team composed of hyperbaric and diving physicians, biomedical engineers, hyperbaric technicians, and researchers.
Qualifications
You are a Master’s student in life sciences, biomedical engineering, and must complete a mandatory internship as part of your curriculum.
Your interest in hyperbaric medicine and diving medicine, with solid knowledge of human physiology, is undeniable. You have a detailed understanding of quality processes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, your abilities to analyze, correlate, and synthesize scientific and administrative data are proven.
You also possess excellent organizational and communication skills, while having the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. Autonomous, you are recognized as a rigorous person with a sense of responsibility.
Your experience in project management or interdisciplinary scientific coordination is an asset, as are your certifications or experience in diving and/or extreme environments, as well as your interest in applied research and knowledge transfer.
