Night and Weekend Care in the Winterthur Area, Temporary (m/f/d)
Since March 2024, Caritas Switzerland has been operating asylum centers at various locations in the canton of Zurich on behalf of the canton. From January 1, 2026, and on a temporary basis, we will open a transit center in the Winterthur area. The center offers space for up to 100 asylum seekers. It is located in an underground facility that meets current requirements for safety, infrastructure, and protection. The premises are functional and purposefully designed to create a pleasant and structured environment for the residents.
For care during the night and especially on weekends, we are looking for committed employees.
Your tasks
- Accompanying and advising refugees on various everyday matters
- Introducing, guiding, and supporting residents on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, order, and cleanliness
- Co-responsibility for creating a good home atmosphere
- Co-responsibility for compliance with the house rules in the center and implementation of the organizational manual regarding safety and emergencies
- Preparing reports and passing on information
- Implementing cleaning and hygiene concepts
- Regular rounds and presence
- Participation in activities and animation
- Attendance at monthly team meetings
- Taking on night and weekend shifts and being on call 365 days a year according to the deployment plan
Our requirements
- Completed training and professional experience, preferably in care; experience in the migration field is desirable
- Good knowledge of the German language as well as good oral skills in English, additional foreign language skills are an advantage
- Good computer skills (MS Office)
- High resilience and stress tolerance as well as conflict management skills
- Flexibility, resilience, and assertiveness
- Initiative, independence, and a high level of work organization
- Willingness to work varying shifts
- Cultural openness
- High sense of responsibility and duty
- Impeccable reputation
