This is a fixed-term position with a duration of 9 months and a workload of 75%, starting on 1 February 2026.
Your tasks
As a strategic teaching advisor, the focus of your activity is on the development of sustainability-oriented course offerings at the University of Basel. Specifically, this includes:- supporting the development of flipped classroom teaching offerings (e.g., for the Pathways to Sustainability course program);
- market analysis of existing teaching offerings in the field of sustainable development in the European context;
- and the strategic further development of offerings at the Bachelor and Master levels of the University of Basel in collaboration with Eucor and EPICUR partners.
In your work on further developing the sustainability-related teaching offerings at the University of Basel, you specifically use the unique opportunities of the European university networks Eucor - The European Campus and EPICUR, the European University Alliance. While Eucor, as a trinational association in the Upper Rhine region, has been fostering cross-border inter-university cooperation for more than three decades, EPICUR as a European university alliance opens new perspectives through innovative and intercultural teaching formats in the focus areas of sustainability and European identities. The goal of EUCOR and EPICUR is to leverage synergies, jointly expand the teaching offerings, provide high-quality teaching, and enable students to have innovative cross-border and intercultural learning experiences in the field of sustainability.
You recognize and utilize the potential of these networks for the sustainability-related teaching at the University of Basel - whether through the creation and curricular anchoring of inter-university courses, joint teaching modules, mobility windows, doctoral schools, or interdisciplinary programs. In doing so, you support the connection of academic excellence with practical, transformative approaches and thus help shape the future of sustainability education in the European context.

Your profile
Applicants should have a natural science background and hold a master's degree in a relevant field such as sustainable development, ecology, conservation biology, environmental sciences, soil science and agronomy, forestry, climate sciences, hydrology and water resources management, geosciences, marine sciences, etc. Expertise in sustainable global food systems is an advantage.We are looking for candidates with very good English and German skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a high willingness to collaborate. Candidates should be available during the specified contract period; the start date is non-negotiable.
