The Anesthesiology Service is a transversal service of the HUG at the heart of the technical platform. With its 7 medical units and a research and innovation unit, its mission is to ensure patient comfort and safety during therapeutic or diagnostic, medical or surgical procedures, as well as during post-interventional care, while ensuring proper pain management.
As the largest center in Switzerland in terms of the number of interventional acts performed annually, the Anesthesiology Service is at the forefront of progress in this field. The service also provides pre-, post-graduate, and continuing education for nursing staff and physicians in specialized training. As a service provider, anesthesiology also intervenes in the field of interventional pain management and in life-threatening emergency situations both intra-hospital and pre-hospital alongside the Emergency Service.
