Job Description
Role purpose:
As a member of the Automation Engineering Support Team, the Software Engineer is responsible for the technical availability, optimization, and expansion of automation systems (DeltaV/Simatic/SIS) for buildings, production, and infrastructure facilities, considering internal and regulatory requirements. As a gatekeeper of the software system, standards are developed and implemented. The role also ensures that external software work is executed according to local standards.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for Emerson DeltaV process control system and bus and third-party systems
- Creation and implementation of comprehensive technical automation concepts (Emerson DeltaV)
- Development of libraries, engineering templates, DeltaV code, graphics, and recipes
- Responsible for updating software documentation
- Programming of control and visualization systems (DeltaV, SIS, Simatic S5/S7 advantageous)
- Contact person for troubleshooting, recipe control, and program modifications in existing facilities
- Support production in process optimization
- Implementation of investment projects for DeltaV software from the Opex portfolio
- Subject matter expert and recipient of DeltaV software work from Capex projects
- Creation and compliance with DeltaV software specifications
- Implementation of global DeltaV software standards at the Muttenz site and participation in cross-site collaborations
- Support of Team Leader Automation and stakeholders; ensuring safety-relevant requirements in DeltaV; support of OSI-PI, Seeq, and alarm management
Qualifications
- Technical degree, preferably in Electrical/Automation or Chemical Process Engineering
- Minimum 5 years experience in industrial automation, preferably in chemical/pharmaceutical industry and with DeltaV systems support
- Languages: German and English written and spoken (French advantageous)
- Good knowledge of MS Office and other standard programs, SAP-PM and COMOS knowledge advantageous
- Comprehensive DeltaV knowledge (system architecture, coding, application) - mandatory (DeltaV training certificate); Siemens DCS and Simatic control advantageous
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art technology, methodology, modern standards, and current trends in process automation
- Proven experience in software development, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
- Project experience in matrix organizations; project management advantageous
- Basic undestanding of project management, documentation of technical changes, risk analyses, scope definition, URS creation, and implementation of DeltaV software projects
- On-call duty readiness required
