The Institute of Forensic Medicine (IRM) provides forensic medical services for the city and canton of Bern as well as for other catchment areas, in addition to teaching and research as a university institute.
In the Department of Anthropology, forensic and archaeological skeletons are examined and interdisciplinary projects are carried out. The IRM also operates an ancient DNA (aDNA) laboratory. We are looking for a laboratory technician to operate this laboratory within the framework of current research projects with the Institute of Plant Sciences.
The position is initially limited to 2 years with the option of extension.
Tasks
- DNA extractions in the cleanroom laboratory
- Operation of the cleanroom laboratory (decontamination, ordering, process management, etc.)
- Practical implementation of ring trials and validation studies as part of quality assurance
- Collaboration in the administrative area
- Participation in scientific projects
Requirements
- Training as a laboratory technician with basic training in biology or medicine, with a federal certificate of competence
- Practical experience in molecular biological methods is required
- Cleanroom laboratory experience is desired
- Experience with modern extraction methods is desired
- Language skills: fluent in German and English
- Flexibility, teamwork skills, and high personal responsibility
- Independence and resilience. In addition, you have an exceptionally high quality awareness
- No criminal record
