The position is attached to the Diagnostic Department . This department, composed of nine medical services, is tasked with providing diagnoses, therapeutic products, therapeutic procedures, and specialized clinical consultations of high medical quality, within the best timeframes and at an acceptable cost, to guide patient care and contribute to therapeutic decisions and actions.
The Genetic Medicine Service at HUG offers a varied clinical activity covering almost all medical specialties, such as pediatrics, obstetrics, neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology, child psychiatry, etc. The medical activity concerns both outpatient and hospitalized patients, children and adults.
The service has 5 physicians and 2 resident doctors for its clinical activity, and is equipped with the most modern technological facilities including exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, NIPT, microarrays, optical genome mapping, as well as conventional cytogenetic and molecular analysis techniques.
This position requires close collaboration with specialists from various hospital medical services, private practice physicians, and allows participation in various multidisciplinary consultations and clinical or scientific conferences.
Job Description
The Genetic Medicine Service is looking for a head of clinic with a specialty title (FMH or equivalent recognized title), to ensure, under the responsibility of senior physicians, comprehensive care of genetic patients (adult or child) both in terms of clinical diagnosis and interpretation of genetic analysis results, as well as genetic counseling.
Working in a stimulating university environment within a multidisciplinary team, you will also contribute to the training of resident doctors with the possibility to participate in undergraduate university teaching.
You are encouraged to participate in research projects and to promote the service's activity through communications and publications.
Qualifications
You hold a federal medical diploma or an equivalent recognized training and have obtained an FMH title in genetic medicine. If your diploma and/or specialization comes from a foreign country, you have obtained recognition from the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).
You have a Geneva cantonal practice license.
You have perfect command of the French language (spoken and written – certified C1 level).
Endowed with excellent communication skills in a multidisciplinary team and with patients, you are a dynamic, flexible, and committed person. Additionally, you have leadership qualities allowing you to supervise resident doctors.
Finally, good knowledge in syndromology is an asset.
