Job description
1.1 Purpose and mission of the position
Under the responsibility of the nurse, assist the resident with activities of daily living (ADLs) according to their choices and wishes, taking into account their values.
Provide basic care that meets the overall needs of the resident, respecting them and the institution's philosophy.
2 Activities
2.1 Main activities
Provide individualized basic care and ensure its continuity, respecting principles of asepsis, safety, economy, and comfort.
2.2 Specific activities
Care
According to the instructions given by the nurses, the unqualified nursing assistant:
- Organizes their work according to the resident's needs and care imperatives.
- Supports and assists the resident as needed in daily activities, respecting their habits and beliefs.
- Maintains the resident's autonomy, encourages them to participate in their care: always informs them, asks for their consent, and considers their response.
- Participates in supporting the person in crisis situations and/or end-of-life periods.
- Shows the utmost respect towards all residents, regardless of their disabilities, respecting their modesty, privacy, and dignity.
Animation
In their role as companion, the unqualified nursing assistant participates with ASEs and animators to energize social life or accompany residents on walks in the neighborhood depending on the weather.
Communication
Communicates observations concerning residents and collaborates closely with various stakeholders (care colleagues, housekeeping, kitchen, animation, physiotherapist, etc.) and respects decisions made to ensure continuity of services offered for comprehensive and personalized care for each resident.
Actively participates in various meetings in a positive and constructive manner.
Promotes the good integration of new team members.
Responsibility role
Is responsible for a certain number of residents, as determined with the ICUS.
- Participates with the ASA or a qualified nursing assistant in collecting important data for resident care.
- Validates in SIEMS the care performed during the day.
Intern supervision
- In tandem with an ASA or a qualified nursing assistant, supervises unqualified nursing assistant interns and civilian trainees under the supervision of the ICUS.
Profile sought
1.1 Key skills
Master care techniques related to daily living activities: hygiene care, dressing, simple active and passive mobilization, assistance with feeding, oral hydration, resident transfers, meal assistance, bed making.
Capable of using messaging (sending and reading emails)
Read and write French at B1 level; able to manage and express opinions simply.
Be flexible in practice and adapt to residents' wishes.
Be able to work under pressure while remaining calm.
Show interest and respect towards people: residents, families, and colleagues.
Punctuality.
Show flexibility and availability regarding working hours.
Have a constructive mindset.
Demonstrate team spirit, be cooperative.
Be patient and polite in all circumstances.
Impeccable personal hygiene.
Diplomas and training:
Swiss Red Cross diploma or equivalent
and/or
ASA or equivalent
