Deputy Head of the Catering Service
The Hospital Logistics Department is advertising a position for a deputy head of the Catering Service with an activity rate between 80% - 100%.

Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Hospital Logistics of CHUV is tasked with ensuring that care, teaching, and research units can fully focus on their core activities by providing and developing efficient logistical operating services.
Within this department, the Catering Service (composed of 310 people) assumes several essential missions:
- Ensure nutrition for patients according to medical prescription and the institution's food concept
- Promote supply with regional products
- Guarantee a varied seasonal culinary offer across our 15 sales points, taking market trends into account
- Manage the Central Food Production – cold production activity of CHUV kitchens
- Offer an attractive catering service
- Implement and ensure a hotel floor service in care units.
Mission
- You participate in the development and application of the management strategy as well as the operational strategy of the service
- You contribute to coordinating the operation of the 5 sectors of the service and ensure continuity of services when necessary
- You promote change management and support teams in institutional and cross-functional projects
- You assist and support the head of service in daily activities and replace them in case of absence
- You replace sector heads in case of absence to ensure continuity of sector operations
- You guarantee the quality of catering services and contribute to client account management by handling and following up on requests
- You lead and coordinate communication actions, as well as manage the service's intranet site
- You ensure the application and effectiveness of the quality system, including monitoring critical control points and key processes
- You ensure regulatory and normative monitoring and adapt service processes and procedures accordingly
- You participate in preparing elements necessary for the service budget development
- You monitor operational or financial indicators according to responsibility distribution with the head of service, while contributing to resource optimization through the implementation of monitoring tools and continuous improvement measures.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree from a Hotel School or an equivalent qualification; certification or training in project management is an asset
- You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role and ideally possess knowledge of the care sector, hospital environment, and collective catering
- You stand out for your managerial skills and have ideally completed team management training
- You demonstrate excellent knowledge of French and have very good knowledge of German or English
- You are perfectly comfortable with common office tools
- You are proactive, versatile, with very good communication and adaptation skills
- You have a sense of responsibility and organization, appreciate teamwork, and are service-oriented.
