Head Nurse of the Care Unit - Acute Geriatrics
To complete its team, the Department of Medicine at CHUV is looking for a Head Nurse of the Care Unit (ICUS) for the acute geriatrics unit, with a workload between 80% and 100%, starting December 1, 2025 (or to be agreed).
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a reference role in the fields of medical care, training, and clinical research.
The acute geriatrics unit at Nestlé Hospital welcomes patients aged 65 and over for short-term hospitalizations related to acute illnesses or decompensations of chronic diseases. This 27-bed unit benefits from the expertise of professionals specialized in geriatric care: geriatricians, psychogeriatricians, clinical nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists…
An interdisciplinary mobile team (doctors, nurses, etc.) complements the care pathway by intervening from the emergency department to assess needs and direct patients to the most appropriate care.
Mission
- You ensure efficient and safe patient care
- You lead the nursing team of your unit with commitment and exemplary conduct
- You collaborate in the management of the service with your hierarchy and interdisciplinary managers
- You supervise training, teaching, and research activities in nursing
- You ensure the link between your unit and the service management.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or an equivalent recognized title) with Red Cross recognition
- You have completed a proximity management training (min. 300 hours) or are ready to undertake it
- You have additional training in geriatrics (CAS or DAS), an asset
- You have confirmed clinical expertise in acute care and/or geriatrics
- You possess team management and supervision skills
- You are recognized for your initiative, dynamism, and interpersonal skills
- You master institutional IT tools
- You have excellent oral and written French skills (minimum level C1).
