Two members for the Zurich University of Applied Sciences Council 10 - 15%The Zurich University of Applied Sciences Council is the highest body of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), and the Zurich University of Teacher Education (PHZH). The committee consists of personalities from science, culture, business, and politics; the presidency is held by the head of the Department of Education. Due to two foreseeable vacancies, we are looking for two members for the University of Applied Sciences Council.
Your area of responsibility
The Zurich University of Applied Sciences Council is responsible for strategic management and exercises direct supervision over the three universities. It has important legislative, personnel, and organizational powers, participates in strategy development processes, approves study programs, and monitors quality assurance and quality development systems. It elects the rectors and appoints new members of the university management as well as professors. Within a system of referents, the members of the University of Applied Sciences Council are familiar with the concerns and needs of the university assigned to them. They work in the respective finance and risk committee and sit on the selection committees for members of the university management.
Your profile
You have a solid education, know the Swiss higher education landscape, especially the University of Applied Sciences sector and the dual education system, and accordingly have a connection to the educational levels adjacent to the three universities. You have leadership and practical experience, have a proven track record in strategy development, and can constructively and critically accompany development and innovation processes of university management. Furthermore, you bring interest and understanding of financial management, quality assurance and risk management systems, and personnel matters. As an ideal candidate, you are familiar with research funding and digital transformation. A good network in business, science, and politics rounds off your profile. You are independent of all Universities of Applied Sciences and Universities of Teacher Education.
Our offer
You can expect an interesting activity compensated as a part-time office. The workload is around 10–15%, depending on involvement in the finance and risk committee and the selection committees for members of the university management. The start of the term is planned for the beginning of the 2027–2030 term. The election is made by the government council and must be approved by the cantonal council. The term of office is four years. Re-election is possible twice.
