The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a globally renowned institute in the field of global health with a special focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, teaching, and services at local, national, and international levels. Around 1,000 people from 96 countries work at Swiss TPH in areas such as infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health, as well as health systems and programs.
The "Administration" department is the backbone of Swiss TPH and supports the areas of research, teaching, and services with the units "Finances and Controlling", "Human Resources", "Informatics", and "Infrastructure". In total, around 70 people work in administration at Swiss TPH.
For our reception and main secretariat, we are looking for a fixed-term maternity cover from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026 as:

WHO YOU ARE:
You are a very flexible person who does not need fixed routines but can create them if needed? Then you are exactly right with us and should apply as soon as possible.
Furthermore, you can set boundaries and always keep an overview and a clear head.
In terms of language, besides German – reading and writing – you should also be proficient in English, and any additional language such as French is an advantage.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for someone on a fixed-term basis to cover the maternity leave of our colleague and provide active support at reception as well as in the main secretariat. The tasks are diverse, so we can use every helping hand.
Due to the variety of tasks, it is important to be flexible and able to set priorities. If you are familiar with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, that is wonderful.
