Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for criminal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, and the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Affoltern am Albis Prison (GFA) is one of the enforcement institutions of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in the closed enforcement of custodial sentences. The GFA offers space for about 60 incarcerated persons.
To strengthen the medical service at the GFA, we are looking for a committed and team-oriented personality.

This is your area of responsibility
- Smooth handling of nursing care is one of your main tasks. You will do this in a two-person team that covers for each other
- You ensure the medical, psychiatric, and dental basic care of the inmates in cooperation with an external prison doctor, an external dentist, and the psychiatric-psychological service
- Preliminary clarifications, assistance during rounds, follow-up of doctor visits, as well as cooperation with hospitals and clinics are also part of your duties
- You take over the admission clarifications and hold regular consultation hours
- You actively shape the interdisciplinary collaboration with the care staff as well as with external partners or partner organizations and are the contact person for medical questions and emergencies as well as for training employees in medical matters
- Furthermore, you manage the medication and material stock
What you bring with you
- You have completed training as a certified nursing specialist (DN II or HF), with a focus on psychiatry and experience in the somatic field or with a focus on general nursing and experience in the psychiatric field
- The ability to recognize and respond to the specific somatic and psychiatric problems of people from diverse backgrounds and nationalities distinguishes you
- You show willingness to attend enforcement-specific courses as well as further training in somatic and/or psychiatric nursing
- In addition to good language skills in German, English, and French, further language skills are an advantage; good IT skills are required
- We are looking for a person with an independent, reliable, and service-oriented working style as well as high personal responsibility, teamwork skills, and mental and physical resilience
- You are at least 25 years old and can provide a clean criminal record
