Tasks
In the trainee program, you will gain a comprehensive insight into the exciting and diverse work of the official veterinary service. After targeted introduction, you will actively work in various teams and take on your first own tasks. In the trainee program, you will work with a focus on one of the two profiles:
– In the "Animal Health & Food Safety" profile, you will issue official veterinary health certificates for the export of animals or animal products and conduct in-depth meat inspections in small slaughterhouses under supervision. Furthermore, you will be involved in animal disease control and participate in animal health inspections.
– In the "Animal Welfare" profile, you will conduct inspections in farm and pet animal holdings and review permit applications – for example, for the keeping of wild animals. In addition, you will gain insight into the enforcement of dog legislation and initiate the necessary clarifications and measures in case of dog bite reports.
About 20% of your working time will be invested in a broad training program. In this, you will complete all theoretical modules for the qualification certificate as an Official Veterinarian. You will also complete the mandatory internship days in large slaughterhouses, meat inspections in small slaughterhouses, as well as the practical examination for meat inspection and operational inspection.
