Justice Enforcement and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialization of inmates and the protection of the public.
For our short-term imprisonment (KSV), we are looking for a strong leadership personality from May 2026 who leads confidently with commitment, responsibility, and humanity.
Your area of responsibility
- You take over the personnel, professional, and organizational leadership of short-term imprisonment and are responsible for the management of about 30 prisoners and 6 employees in shift work
- You support the department management in further development and reorganization and implement new processes and structures
- You ensure a safe and smooth operation, organize shift and on-call service, make independent decisions on measures, and apply disciplinary law
- You coordinate care tasks interdisciplinarily along the enforcement plans and place reintegration at the center
- You take on administrative tasks, write reports, and document relevant events
- You are actively involved as a member of the company fire brigade
What you bring
- You must have basic training as a specialist in justice enforcement and ideally have already completed further training in the professional and/or leadership area. Willingness for further training in leadership or social pedagogy is expected
- You bring several years of professional experience in justice enforcement and ideally have some leadership experience
- You communicate very confidently in German both orally and in writing and preferably have knowledge of other languages
- You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You are mentally and physically resilient and can reconcile changing working hours including on-call and weekend duties well with your commitments
- You have an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal and debt enforcement registers)
