The St. Gallen Cantonal Police ensures peace, security, and
order in the canton of St. Gallen around the clock. It investigates crimes and monitors compliance with applicable laws. The Police Prisons Department is primarily responsible for the operation of the four police prisons in the canton. The Cantonal Prison, with 18 cells, is subordinate to the detention center, which is responsible for detention coordination and transports within the canton.

What to expect
- You will work in the area of security in prisoner management
- You will work in shifts, including night and weekend duties, and perform all tasks related to detention coordination and prison operations
- Conducting transports of incarcerated persons and presentations to authorities
- Guarding incarcerated persons during court hearings, doctor or hospital visits
- Carrying out admissions of incarcerated persons including property and cell inspections
- Close cooperation with prison staff, social services, and health services
- Working with prison software and providing on-call services on weekdays
What distinguishes you
- You have completed vocational training and hold a category B driving license (manual transmission vehicles)
- An additional qualification as a security assistant, security and guarding specialist, or correctional officer is an advantage.
- We are looking for a reliable personality who is mentally and physically resilient
- You are a motivated, flexible, and resilient person who works independently, responsibly, and is a team player
- Your strengths include skill and patience in dealing with people from diverse cultures
- You have good German language skills in speaking and writing; knowledge of a foreign language is an advantage
