- Place of work:Avenue des Baumettes 19, 1020 Renens VD
Introduction
SWISSto12 is one of the world’s fastest-growing aerospace companies, evolving from its pioneering use of 3D printing technologies for high-performance Radio Frequency (RF) products and applications to recently announcing the manufacture of entire geostationary telecom satellites, called HummingSat, that define a new category in space.
HummingSat is the world’s first commercial telecom GEO SmallSat developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). Its uniquely compact size combined with highly capable telecom payloads allows telecommunications operators to deploy a cost-efficient, compact, and agile asset without sacrificing performance or security. HummingSat has been selected by Intelsat to build the I-45 satellite, by Inmarsat to build three I-8 satellites, and recently by Astrum Mobile to build the NEASTAR-1 satellite.
SWISSto12 is also a leading provider of Radio-Frequency (RF) products and sub-systems for satellite communication and remote sensing applications. The company’s patented 3D printing technologies and associated product designs are unique to deliver lightweight, compact, highly performing, and competitive RF products.
?This position is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the machining and finishing of complex, high-precision components for RF systems used in space applications. As a Machining Operator, you will work on 5-axis CNC milling, turning, and EDM equipment to manufacture unique and small-series parts from metal additive manufacturing and conventional stock. You will be part of a multidisciplinary production team collaborating closely with manufacturing engineers and process owners to ensure each part meets demanding aerospace standards for precision, surface quality, and reliability.
About the job
Machining Operations:
· Program, set up, and operate CNC milling and turning centers (e.g., DMG MORI 5-axis).
· Perform wire EDM cutting and finishing of metal components.
· Machine and rework 3D-printed metal parts and conventional blanks to final geometry.
· Manufacture or adapt custom jigs and fixtures when needed.
Quality & Inspection:
· Perform self-inspection using conventional metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and 3D scanning systems.
· Interpret engineering drawings (ISO GPS / GD&T) and verify part conformity.
· Record inspection data and support traceability requirements for space-grade hardware.
Collaboration & Improvement:
· Interact daily with the machining and process engineering teams to optimize setups and machining strategies.
· Suggest improvements to programs, tools, and methods to reduce cycle time and improve accuracy.
· Follow production plans and support other operators when needed.
Maintainability & Safety:
· Execute daily and weekly maintenance tasks according to the Total Preventive Maintenance Plan (TPMP) defined by the Process & Manufacturing Engineering department.
· Report anomalies, recurring failures, or improvement ideas to maintain machine reliability.
· Apply all EHS and cleanroom regulations relevant to machining and metallic dust handling.
Job Requirements:
· CFC in Polymécanicien·ne / Precision Mechanic or equivalent qualification.
· 3–5 years of experience in CNC machining and/or EDM in a precision manufacturing environment.
· Strong ability to read and interpret complex 2D and 3D drawings (ISO GPS).
· Experience with programming and probing cycles (e.g., Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc).
· Knowledge of SolidWorks and Alphacam (or equivalent CAM software) is an asset.
· Rigor, autonomy, and attention to detail.
· Team-oriented and comfortable in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment.
· French required; English minimum level B1.
