Your new role
As a bus mechanic, you ensure that vehicle breakdowns are quickly resolved. You independently perform diagnostics on electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems of our vehicles and carry out general repair and maintenance work on our buses. After repair or conversion work, you check the function of the vehicles and their subsystems. In close cooperation with our control center, you coordinate the vehicles and thus contribute to smooth deployment planning.
This position is for you if
- You have completed vocational training as an automotive mechatronics technician / automotive specialist for commercial vehicles or passenger cars / agricultural machinery mechanic.
- You possess a category CE driving license or are willing to obtain one.
- You are a team-oriented, reliable, and committed personality with a high sense of responsibility.
- You appreciate an honest working environment, a people-oriented culture, and a secure workplace.
- You want to contribute to a livable city of St. Gallen and can identify with the VBSG.

Your department
The St. Gallen Transport Services (VBSG) ensure public transport for the city of St. Gallen and the agglomeration with around 320 employees and 90 buses. Daily, the VBSG safely transport over 85,000 passengers to their destinations. The electrification work of the VBSG is so advanced that today around 65 percent of the mileage is CO2-neutral. The electricity is sourced from 100 percent hydropower. The goal is for the VBSG to be climate-neutral from 2030. The VBSG is a department of the City Administration of St. Gallen.
