Job description
The Global Studies Institute (GSI) is an interfaculty center of the University of Geneva combining the tradition of regional and international studies and developments in global governance. It favors interdisciplinarity in the study of international and regional relations in order to better understand the new challenges of the contemporary world in their entirety.It is offering a position of assistant at 100% within the framework of the Middle East Master (MAMO)
Field : contemporary history / international relations / global studies with a specialization in modern and contemporary Arab spaces
Job description :
- Ensure the supervision and correction of exams as well as the pedagogical follow-up and supervision of students
- Ensure communication of the Middle East Master program activities (newsletter, website, social networks)
- Assist program managers in administrative and logistical tasks necessary for the smooth running of the program
- Participate in the scientific activities of the GSI (conferences, workshops, etc.), particularly the activities of doctoral students (seminars, workshops, study days)
- Devote 50% of their time to writing the thesis
- Participate in national and international conferences
- Publish academic articles
- Teach two hours in the spring semester
Title and required skills
- Hold by 31 July 2026 a Master's degree recognized by the University of Geneva in one of the relevant fields
- Have a very good knowledge and demonstrate a strong interest in the geopolitical, cultural and social issues of the Middle East
- Show a willingness to write a doctoral thesis in the relevant field
- Mastery of English and French (oral and written skills). Knowledge of a Middle Eastern language (Arabic, Persian, Turkish) is an asset.

The candidate will be hired on a two-year contract which may be renewed for two successive periods, respectively two years and one year. The maximum duration of the assistant position is five years.
