Nurses in the General Psychiatry Department - Hospital Unit
The General Psychiatry Department of the Psychiatry Department at CHUV is looking for nurses for its hospital unit with a workload between 80% and 100%.
The starting date is scheduled for March 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The General Psychiatry Department provides psychiatric care for the adult population (18 to 65 years old) of the Lausanne metropolitan area. Organized into specialized sections, it has about one hundred acute care beds at the Cery site and outpatient consultations in the city to best meet the needs of users and care network partners.
It consists of a hospital unit and an outpatient unit, which share a common care philosophy and maintain close links to ensure continuity of care for patients.
The different units of the hospital unit are distributed as follows:
- The "Karl Jaspers" section specializes in treating people with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders.
- The "Eugène Minkowski" section specializes in the care of schizophrenia spectrum disorders and related psychotic disorders.
- The "Reception, Observation and Crisis" unit mainly welcomes first hospitalizations in psychiatric settings.
Mission
- You ensure primary follow-up of patients with long-lasting mental disorders and/or significant social difficulties
- You ensure the identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care in preventive, curative, palliative, and educational fields
- You ensure the proper execution of entrusted medical acts and bear responsibility for them
- You ensure the reception of patients and their relatives, as well as preparation for discharge
- You implement actions aimed at optimizing the efficiency of nursing care
- You guarantee continuity of care by participating in the planning of night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an equivalent title, with Red Cross recognition or positive Precheck (mandatory)
- You have at least 2 years of professional experience
- You show a strong interest in psychiatry
- You have experience working in a multidisciplinary team
- You demonstrate autonomy, flexibility, and proactivity
- You show good adaptability
- You are able to maintain composure in psychiatric emergency situations
- You have good knowledge of computer tools.
