Cloud System Engineer Focus MS Azure 100%The Office for Informatics (AFI) is the IT competence center of the Canton of Zurich. It provides comprehensive services in the area of central IT infrastructure and canton-wide applications. Commissioned with the implementation of the "Information and Communication Technology (ICT)" strategy, the office accompanies the canton into the digital world.
The ongoing digitalization has largely affected and fundamentally changed all areas of life, including ours. The canton is digitalizing – and you can shape the cloud behind it.
Our cloud platform is growing rapidly: With increasing Azure, Power Platform, and automation projects, we are looking for you as a Cloud System Engineer to further develop, automate, and operate our Microsoft Azure environment with high availability.
Your tasks:
- Further development and operation of our Microsoft Azure Cloud platform (IaaS/PaaS)
- Accompanying cloud onboardings and migrations into the Azure environment
- Developing solution architectures for integrated Azure services and supporting their implementation in the ICT landscape
- Automating and optimizing installation, transition, and operational processes (e.g., via scripting)
- Handling 2nd and 3rd level support tickets and participating in incident, problem, and change management (ITSM)
- Performing recovery and restart procedures for Azure services and ensuring stable platform operation
- Reviewing and integrating cloud data and application solutions while complying with security and platform requirements
- Supporting DR/BCM measures, provider reviews, and occasional representation of the Service Owner Cloud
- Close collaboration with engineers, architects, and specialist departments of various directorates
You bring with you:
- Higher education degree at tertiary level in computer science or equivalent training
- Several years of professional experience in cloud engineering and operations including Power Platform
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS); basic knowledge of AWS or Google Cloud is an advantage
- Experience in operations (monitoring, stability, security) as well as in architecture design and ITSM processes
- Confident handling of development with DevOps methods and scripting/automation (e.g., PowerShell)
- Advantageous: Microsoft certifications in the Azure and Power Platform area
- Very good German and English skills
- Willingness to participate in on-call duties
