About the Role
The Diagnostic Scientific Liaison (DSL) is a field‑based scientific expert in diagnostics and biomarker testing. In this role, you will support diagnostic excellence in Oncology, ensuring high‑quality biomarker testing for AstraZeneca’s marketed products and pipeline therapies. You will collaborate with pathologists, molecular biologists, lab technicians, geneticists, and oncologists across Switzerland.
You will generate valuable insights, build strategic partnerships, and contribute to a robust national diagnostic infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific & Diagnostic Expertise
- Develop and maintain deep expertise in biomarker testing aligned with AZ Oncology brands.
Internal Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as an educational resource for and collaborate with cross-functional team.
- Share insights and actively contribute to key account and brand planning processes.
Insights & Strategy
- Generate diagnostic insights on trends, competition, and barriers across the testing pathway.
- Support national brand strategies with diagnostic intelligence & implement the national diagnostic strategy.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify, build relationship and collaborate with local and national key diagnostic experts (KEEs).Plan, conduct, and follow up on scientific customer interactions.
- Act as a technical and scientific diagnostic expert for external stakeholders in a non‑promotional, objective manner.
- Work closely with diagnostic companies and laboratory networks.
External Events & Congresses
- Participate in national diagnostic meetings and international congresses.
- Organize and lead diagnostic advisory boards and educational workshops.
Diagnostic Initiatives
- Contribute to establishing and maintaining high‑quality diagnostic testing pathways.
- Support or foster diagnostic projects in laboratories to optimize the availability, access and accuracy to biomarker tests, incl. validation projects and ring trials.
Compliance & Culture
- Ensure compliance with internal policies (Code of Conduct, Ethical Interaction Policy, GxP, SOPs) and external regulations (EFPIA, Swissmedic, scienceindustries).
- Embody AstraZeneca’s values and contribute positively to team culture.
Education & Experience Requirements
- University degree: MD, PhD in Life Sciences, or equivalent (e.g., Biomedical Analyst).
- Strong knowledge and experience in pathology, diagnostics, and/or biomarker testing in oncology.
- Experience in pharma, diagnostics, or molecular laboratory settings.
- Understanding of the Swiss diagnostic landscape; established relationships with pathologists are an advantage.
- Familiarity with local healthcare regulations.
- Ability to communicate scientific information effectively and engage healthcare professionals confidently.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, moderation, and training skills.
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management abilities.
- Comfortable using digital engagement platforms and diagnostic tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Highly organized, proactive, curious, and a strong team player.
- Fluent in German and English (French is an advantage).
- Willingness to travel frequently (approx. 60% within Switzerland).
