About Eldian Biomed & CloudLi
Eldian Biomed is a spin off project based at the University of Bern's Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry & Pharmaceutical Sciences. Our flagship asset, CloudLi, is a lipid based nano and microparticle platform that lubricates articular cartilage and delivers peptides, proteins and small molecules directly to articular joints, aiming to revolutionise osteoarthritis treatment. Backed by an Innosuisse grant, we are building the pre clinical data package needed for first in human studies and building our preclinical pipeline.
The Opportunity
We're seeking an energetic Pre Clinical Nanoparticle Scientist to drive formulation, analytics and in vivo work for CloudLi. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with Eldian Biomed's founder and advisors, translating cutting edge research into a clinical candidate.
Preferred starting date: July 2025
Contract: 80 % position funded until 31st December 2026; strong likelihood of extension and equity participation after Series A financing (target H1 2026).
Location: Bern, Switzerland (on site) with occasional travel to Zürich.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimise liposomes/LNPs for treatment of joint diseases.
- Characterise particles (DLS, NTA, cryoTEM) and run stability assays (HPLC).
- Load peptides, proteins and small molecules.
- Partner with chemists on peptide design, SPPS and characterisation.
- Execute in vitro evaluations, ex vivo testing and rodent biodistribution studies.
- Perform tribological tests to quantify CloudLi mediated cartilage lubrication.
- Maintain lab infrastructure, author protocols, reports and IP relevant documentation.
- Present results to founders and advisers.
Your Profile
Must haves
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nanomedicine, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry or related field.
- Proven hands on experience with liposome/LNP formulation and analysis.
- Solid grounding in nano drug delivery, biopharmaceutics and analytical methods.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Eagerness to thrive in a fast moving spin off environment and wear multiple hats.
Nice to haves
- SPPS or peptide conjugation know how.
- Fluorescence microscopy, cell culture and rodent handling (FELASA B or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with tribometry.
- Familiarity with QbD/DoE, GLP/GMP and regulatory requirements.
