With nearly 1,100 employees, the psychiatry department fulfills a triple mission covering the treatment of mental disorders, training, and research.
Integrated, clinical, and structured quality teaching is provided by the department for physicians in training by raising awareness of psychological, biological, and social dimensions. The department also provides structured theoretical training in the three main models of psychotherapy as well as individual and group supervisions included in the training curriculum. The department actively conducts research projects aimed at improving care offered to patients. The main focuses are psychiatric neurosciences and research on psychiatric services, the results of which lead to clinical trials to evaluate new interventions.
The Adult Psychiatry Service (SPA) provides diagnosis and general psychiatric care to the population aged 18 to 65. It is also the reference service in the field of psychosis. Organized into three geographic sectors as well as a unit dedicated to the care of young adults, the service offers a very broad and diversified range of care including inpatient, outpatient, and mobile care organized according to the principles of community psychiatry.
Job Description
Within an interdisciplinary team, you are responsible for the smooth operation of a hospital unit or a care program in an outpatient unit and ensure the quality of services. Thus, you provide psychiatric and psychotherapeutic follow-up for the patients of your unit or program as well as supervision of junior doctors.
You have the opportunity to participate in research projects and teaching activities.
You participate in on-call duties and shifts of the chief physicians or heads of clinic.
We offer the establishment of a career plan supported by mentoring. This plan allows you to choose one or more specialization options in the following four areas: the clinical axis, with specializations in all areas of psychiatry and FMH-recognized training, including the possibility to follow additional internal and external certified training; the research axis, with the development of an integrated activity within a research group, support via the department's research platform, and the possibility of dedicated time; the teaching axis, with participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervision of master's theses, and training in pedagogical methods; finally, the management axis, with deepening managerial skills and access to internal and external certified training.
Qualifications
A federal medical diploma or training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO) is required. An FMH title in psychiatry and psychotherapy or an equivalent title recognized by MEBEKO, or advanced postgraduate training in psychiatry and psychotherapy, including four years of clinical experience in psychiatry and at least one year in somatic medicine, is also required. For non-French-speaking candidates, a C1 level of French, both oral and written, is required.
