Community Health and Care Assistant at SUPEA
The Department of Psychiatry (DP) of the CHUV is looking for several community health and care assistants (ASSC) at 80% for the Emergency, Crisis and Orientation Hospitalization Unit for children and adolescents (UCO) at the Children’s Hospital (HE) in Lausanne, starting May 1, 2026, or a date to be agreed upon.
Your working hours will be exclusively at night (8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.), including weekends and public holidays.
Context
The University Hospital of Vaud (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Psychiatry includes ten services covering the three stages of life. It encompasses the Central, West, and North psychiatric sectors of the canton of Vaud. Its mission is the comprehensive and multidisciplinary care of children, adolescents, adults, and elderly people suffering from mental disorders. Caregivers provide acute care but also offer outpatient follow-ups and care in the usual living environment.
The University Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service (SUPEA) plays a major reference role in psychiatric treatments for children and adolescents in the Lausanne region and more broadly in the canton of Vaud. The service supports a vision of community psychiatry and therefore offers patients and families outpatient care close to home. We also provide hospital care, ensure liaison with pediatric units, and offer day center services in collaboration with partners. Additionally, we are involved in academic missions of training and research. Since January 2019, the service has brought together child and adolescent psychiatry from the North, West, and Central sectors of the canton under one governance to adapt our offer to the constantly evolving needs of the population.
Open 24 hours a day, the Unit welcomes minors in crisis situations or suffering from psychological difficulties requiring hospitalization in close collaboration with pediatric emergency services.
Short-term hospital care (5 days) takes into account psychological, educational, family, social, and school aspects. It emphasizes thorough evaluation and aims to understand the nature and meaning of the difficulties encountered by the adolescent, promoting resolution of the crisis situation that led to hospitalization to allow proper orientation at the end of the stay.
The medical and nursing team will also ensure evaluation of pediatric psychiatric emergencies presenting at the pediatric emergency department of the HE as well as evaluation and orientation of hospitalization requests in child and adolescent psychiatry in the canton of Vaud.
