Restorer
In the find laboratory of the cantonal archaeology, we work with finds from all epochs. Your daily tasks include cleaning and consolidating ceramic fragments, searching for matching shards, and the subsequent vessel reconstruction. You work in a small, collegial team in the laboratory, support archaeological project managers during field and recovery work, and assist in the care of the archaeological collections.
Your tasks
- Support the excavation team in recovering delicate objects and assist with block recoveries in coordination with the laboratory team (including organization and transport)
- Excavation and documentation of block recoveries
- Excavation and cleaning work on various materials such as ceramics, organic materials, glass, plaster, and metal
- Careful work documentation and data maintenance
Your profile
- Near completion or completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in conservation and restoration, ideally specialized in archaeology
- Manual dexterity, good physical condition, excavation experience, and a driver’s license
- Flexible thinking, precise, independent and responsible working style, as well as teamwork skills
- Know-how in collection care as well as in the organization and control of museum depots
- Good PC and database skills
