The Zurich Public Prosecutor's Office, with around 500 employees, is responsible for prosecuting crimes committed by adults throughout the canton of Zurich. To relieve the case handlers in all regions and to ensure a sustainable workload balance, the Relief Public Prosecutor's Office ESTA is being established. In ESTA, the temporarily created positions of commercial assistant public prosecutors are grouped together in one department to manage mass delinquency. Also attached to ESTA is the already existing Department J for relief deployments, with public prosecutors serving in a floating role ("Joker"). ESTA plays an operationally central role within the Zurich Public Prosecutor's Office: it ensures the targeted implementation of the temporary positions of commercial assistant public prosecutors, coordinates the relief deployments of public prosecutors with floating roles ("Joker"), and significantly contributes to a balanced workload distribution within the organization through its operational activities. For the management of the Relief Public Prosecutor's Office ESTA, we are seeking a Senior Public Prosecutor (100%) from April 1, 2026, until December 31, 2029.
These are your tasks:
- Co-responsibility for the targeted implementation of the temporary positions of commercial assistant public prosecutors in active collaboration with the Senior Public Prosecutor's Office
- Establishment and organization of the office with around 30 employees (Departments Joker-STA and commercial Ass-STA as well as business control)
- Approvals, judgment control, and exercising the competence for objections and appeals
- Leadership of 4-5 direct reports including coaching and inspection of department heads
- Important interface function, especially with the regional offices

- Several years of successful experience as a public prosecutor with corresponding leadership experience
- Clear design claim as well as conceptual and organizational skills regarding the establishment of the new office
- Innovative thinking, initiative, and enthusiasm
- High goal and implementation orientation, resilience, and decisiveness
- Networking skills and negotiation ability in dealing with interfaces
