The position is attached to the Operations Management, which has a triple mission: to provide support services for patient care (reception, coordination of patient flows, patient transport), to integrate and ensure social follow-up for HUG patients and their relatives, and to support clinical activity in logistical and organizational aspects. Its organization is divided into 4 entities: patient flow management, reception and telephone switchboard, on-site patient transport, and the social service.
The social service consists of several committed teams working in an environment rich in interprofessional collaboration. You will work with hospitalized patients or those in consultation facing social, administrative, psychological, or family difficulties, requiring a social assessment and close support related to their care situation.
Job Description
The population supported mainly presents situations of severe hardship. Socio-financial assessments are frequent, as are procedures related to regularization, social benefits, or coordination with cantonal aid systems.
In this context, active listening, psychosocial support, the ability to quickly establish a trusting relationship, identify issues, and develop concrete and personalized solutions are key skills.
You play an essential role in ensuring access to care, continuity of care pathways, and humane support respectful of the social and administrative realities of patients and their relatives.
You provide your expertise to the medical and nursing teams and ensure, in a multidisciplinary manner, liaison with the intra- and extrahospital network.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Social Work or an equivalent recognized qualification.
You have successful experience in social work in a hospital setting.
You master the usual social work procedures and the reporting procedures to the adult protection authority (TPAE).
You have good knowledge of the Geneva socio-health network and social insurance systems.
You are a person with excellent skills to constructively defend social expertise in a demanding interdisciplinary environment.
You demonstrate strong analytical, synthesis, and judgment skills in sensitive or high-stakes human situations, as well as excellent writing skills and proficiency with computer tools.
Additional training as a practitioner trainer, in social insurance, psychology, experience in group coordination, and language skills in Spanish and/or Portuguese are assets that will be particularly appreciated.
