Engineer Flight Noise Simulation and Measurement (a)
The Acoustics / Noise Reduction department researches the mechanisms of vibration and sound generation as well as sound propagation. We develop technical solutions for noise reduction and investigate the effects of noise on humans.
Your tasks
- Demanding services in the field of aircraft noise with Empa's own aircraft noise simulation programs, especially calculation of noise exposure around airports and airfields.
- Participation in research and development projects focusing on sonAIR, e.g. on quieter and more climate-friendly flight procedures.
- Participation in further research and development projects as needed.
- Presentation of technical-scientific results through reports, publications, and lectures.
- Representation of Empa in the subject area towards external bodies.
Your profile
- Completed scientific-technical university degree.
- Knowledge in the areas of simulation, data processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Programming skills in Python and MATLAB (and possibly other languages).
- Additional knowledge in the fields of acoustics, GIS, and aviation, as well as in measurement technology and signal processing is an advantage.
- Experience in written reporting and presentations.
- Independent, proactive personality with quick comprehension and thorough working style.
- Very good knowledge of German and English; basic knowledge of French is an advantage.
