The Institute of Fish and Wildlife Health at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Pathobiology is looking for a person interested in wildlife and diagnostics. The Wildlife Department offers this position from May 1, 2026, or by arrangement.
The Institute of Fish and Wildlife Health (FIWI) conducts research, services, and teaching in the field of fish and wildlife health. The service tasks of the Wildlife Department consist of postmortem examinations of a wide variety of free-living, native wildlife. Predator-prey diagnostics (identification of suspected predator prey) and other forensic cases are also an integral part of routine diagnostics.
Tasks
The scope of tasks includes the following:
•Dissection of wildlife and initiation of further analyses
•Histopathological examination of organs
•Collaboration and communication with submitters and authorities
•Regular and active participation in internal training (case discussions,
seminars)
Requirements
•Completed studies as a veterinarian
•Interest in wildlife pathology and wildlife health
•Confident and professional communication in German, both spoken and written, good
knowledge of English and French
•Independent working style and organizational skills
•Service orientation and ability to work in a team
•High initiative
