Senior Physician for the Palliative and Supportive Care Service
Attached to the Department of Medicine, the Palliative and Supportive Care Service is offering a Senior Physician position with an activity rate between 80% and 100%.
The starting date is planned for June 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Palliative and Supportive Care Service, attached to the Department of Medicine, includes an Acute Care Unit, an intra-hospital consultation team, a mobile extra-hospital team, as well as an outpatient consultation.
The Service relies on an interprofessional team composed notably of physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, spiritual companions, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, liaison nurses, medical secretaries, and volunteers.
The Service aims to be a reference in early, integrated, and equitable palliative care at regional, national, and international levels, and to offer a space conducive to holistic, systemic, personalized, and interdisciplinary care. Care, research, and teaching mutually enrich each other and contribute to the excellence of practices and the development of palliative care in public health.
Mission
- You ensure medical responsibility, management, and daily clinical activities of the different teams of the Service, according to a rotation system with other senior physicians: Acute Care Unit (SPAH), identified palliative care beds within CHUV (SPSH), intra-hospital mobile team (SPL1), extra-hospital mobile team (SPLM), and outpatient activities
- You supervise assistant physicians and chief residents of the different teams
- You teach within the framework of undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education
- You participate in the management of the Palliative Care Service and contribute to promoting its vision, mission, and values
- You collaborate on research projects and contribute to promoting academic and clinical succession.
Profile
- You hold a federal medical diploma (with MEBEKO recognition for holders of a foreign diploma) as well as an FMH specialist title in internal medicine, general medicine, or another FMH title
- You have several years of professional experience in palliative care and team leadership
- You demonstrate leadership and have management experience
- You have a strong interest in teaching and proven experience in this field
- You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team and have excellent communication skills
- You hold an academic degree
- You master the French language (minimum B2)
- You master the English language (minimum B2)
