About the job
Volunteering
Volunteers
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the Federal Polytechnic School, the CHUV plays a leading role in the fields of medical care, medical research, and education.
Volunteering represents a contribution to the activity of the professionals surrounding the patient, collaborating with them, by its presence and services improving the conditions of hospitalization and the comfort of the patient. The volunteer does not replace or substitute the caregivers. Any medical and nursing intervention with the hospitalized person remains the "exclusive" responsibility of health professionals. Volunteering is characterized by the principle of free choice. The hospital volunteer is a person who spontaneously offers and voluntarily agrees to devote, without compensation, a few hours of their time and themselves to the service of patients.
We are mainly looking for people who feel comfortable with often elderly adults who need listening, exchanges, and activities.

Context
22 clinical services including 8 pediatrics collaborate with volunteers. (details in the "service choice" document attached)
Surgical, medical, and outpatient treatment services collaborate with volunteers.
Volunteers intervene to offer a rose and present their wishes to hospitalized patients on their birthday. Others collaborate with the cultural activities service, others are present to welcome and inform anyone entering the CHUV.
