The Operations Department is responsible for the overall personnel planning for events in the canton of Bern and coordinates all measures of the BSD. It ensures the training, equipment, and deployment of the order service, leads the Flying Incident Commanders (FEL), is responsible for drones and drone defense, operates the Sports Specialist Office, and acts as the central SPOC for the security police.
Your tasks
- Further development of the areas of drone deployment, drone detection, and drone defense at the Bern Cantonal Police
- Co-responsible for the basic and advanced training of drone pilots (flight, image evaluation, operational tactics, technical, drone defense Kapo BE) including planning and course administration
- Development of internal standards and processes in the area of training and drone flights
- Responsible for the implementation of the State Aviation Ordinance in favor of the Bern Cantonal Police
- Co-responsible for the preparation of training materials and the encyclopedia
- Technical and legal support in drone matters
- Participation in cantonal and national expert groups
Your profile
- Completed master's degree (e.g., aviation) and/or several years of relevant professional experience, ideally with a focus on drones and/or drone defense
- Sound expertise in the field of unmanned aerial systems as well as pronounced teamwork skills and initiative
- High social competence, very good communication skills, and good language skills in French and English (at least B1)
- High self-organization, pronounced risk awareness, and great willingness to learn
- Willingness to work irregular shifts (day/night, weekends) and drone licenses A1/A3, A2 or willingness to further training
