The Secondary and Vocational Education Office of the Canton of Zurich is committed to secondary schools, vocational schools, providers of preparatory vocational years, and training companies in the interest of youth and the economy. For the 2026/2027 school year starting on August 1, 2026, an internship position is once again to be filled at the Secondary and Vocational Education Office.
Your area of responsibility
During your internship year, you will gain insight into various areas of the School Personnel Department, which is responsible for the staff at secondary and vocational schools. You will take on tasks with your own responsibility, such as calculating salaries for administrative and operational employees as well as teachers or processing leave requests, and providing telephone information to HR managers of the schools. This also includes checking classifications for secondary school substitutes, classification changes, and processing monthly mutations. You will take care of employment level and function changes and process teacher departures including the payment of hour accounts. Your area of responsibility is complemented by your involvement in payroll administration. Here you enter variable payments in SAP (e.g., expenses, further training, etc.) and maintain master and employment data of new student assistants. In addition, you process accident reports. In the Case Management team, you support the processing of absence notifications in case of longer work absences as well as other situational tasks.
Your profile
You are in HMS training and are interested in commercial activities in cantonal administration. You have good German language skills in speaking and writing, are IT-savvy, and experienced in using Microsoft Office programs. You think in networks and act solution-oriented, have a quick grasp, and enjoy working independently as well as in a team. In customer conversations, you score points with your calm and confident manner. Furthermore, you convince with a neat appearance as well as open, friendly, and pleasant manners.
